LJ Toys

I saw somewhere mention of LJ Toys, which seems to be a set of tools that use mood icons to help track the viewership of posts. I took a look. Er no.

Looks like a drama engine to me. I guess if someone has a dangerous stalker, it could be useful, but being concerned over who's looking at my journal is a good way to drive myself crazy, and I don't need that. It's part and parcel of the Internet that if it's there, people may or may not look. That's the deal a person buys into when they publish on the net. Sure, I use friends lists and filters to limit immediate access. These can help cover my butt in certain situations, at the very least as a demonstration of intention to keep certain information limited. But really. Once you tell a single person a secret, it isn't a secret.

Generally, except for the occasion when I'm fooling myself and haven't figured it out yet, I try to say what I mean and mean what I say, and just who's looking when I say it is kind of beside the point.
